Everywhere you look, car manufacturers create more and more electric vehicles, and Ford is no different. For their 2022 roster of vehicles, Ford is introducing their first electric truck, the F-150 Lightning. As an all-electric truck, this vehicle produces zero carbon emissions and is touted as Ford’s strongest pickup. To find out what this truck has to offer, continue reading to learn more.

What the Ford-F150 Lightning Has to Offer

Performance

With no engine to speak of, some East Petersburg or Lititz residents may wonder what kind of performance they can expect from the Ford Lightning. This is a valid question, and as it turns out, this new electric truck from Ford is their most powerful pickup yet. With two electric motors and all-wheel drive, the Lightning is estimated to reach 563 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. This truck is also expected to offer a maximum payload of 2,000 pounds and a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds.

Electric Mileage

What about its range? The distance an electric vehicle can travel in a single charge is vitally important. Luckily, Ford has thought of this as well, and it’s why the standard battery found in the Lightning is estimated to get 230-miles of rage. And if Elizabethtown drivers opt to buy the upgraded battery, that range will increase to 300-miles in a single charge.

It’s Not a Trunk, It’s a Frunk!

Because the electric motors are placed under the truck, the Ford Lighting has an empty space where the engine would be. Due to this, Ford opted to turn this void into 14.1 cubic feet of cargo space and dub it the Frunk! The frunk cannot only hold various items for residents of Mount Joy, but it can also hold a payload of up to 400 pounds.
